I wanna have Blended Cocktails on the Beach

What is it about a blender on a beach that just makes sense? The drinks a blender creates are delightfully fluffy, often sweet, and very cold. From a customer perspective, a brightly colored strong drink is a fun glass is the right beverage to hit the spot. Something about being on vacation makes having a bit of extra sugar just fine. Calories don’t count on vacation, right? Not being at your neighborhood bar makes the risque names a bit easier to say out loud. Ordering a Sex on the Beach is always on conversation starter about how unpleasant that experience would be. Blended cocktails on the beach just feel right. As a bead of sweat falls down your forehead, you take a sip of that sweet and cold concoction, take a breath, and relax knowing that the heat of the sun is properly balanced by the cool of the Pink Flamingo.

Ok, what about the bar’s perspective on the blender? I see a lot of positives for a beach bar to use a blender. The main two being volume and speed. Foremost, the volume of drinks that can be made using a blender is a huge plus. You have four people wanting a Frozen Margarita, no problem. Making those four drinks in one or two blenders is no problem compared to shaking up four of the same margarita on the rocks. More sails, more happy sailors.

The other side of volume is noise, which can be off putting in a small and intimate bar space. Nobody wants to hear that loud whirring when trying to whisper sweet nothings to a romantic partner. In a beach bar, the blender sound blends into the pastiche with the music, the breeze, the sound of ocean water, and jovial patrons getting off a cruise ship with various decibel and Alcohol Blood Content levels.

The last thing I love about a blended beach bar drink is the novelty of it. Sure, usually the mixers are not the highest quality, and yes the booze often comes in bottles that can bounce off a concrete floor, but there are only a few times in life you can hold your partner, look over the ocean, and toast to good love and a good life. If you have a proper Pina Colada, all the better. The drink being good is optional, because having that blended drink in you hand is like holding a piece of your vacation.
